Redeo does not collect or share any personal data. It has no accounts of its own, no servers operated by the developer, and no analytics or advertising. Your cards stay on your device, unless you choose to sign in with Google and back them up to your own Google Drive.
A Redeo card is a question and an answer, both typed by you. Redeo keeps three kinds of data, all in a single database in the app's private storage on your device:
This storage is not readable by other apps. It is only uploaded if you turn on the Google Drive backup described below.
When you write an answer from memory, Redeo compares it with the answer you saved using two methods that both run entirely on your device: a word comparison, and a small language model bundled inside the app. Your answers are never sent to a server for grading, or for any other purpose.
Redeo uses the internet for one thing only: the optional Google Drive backup. Grading, studying and everything else work offline. The permissions it declares are:
INTERNET, to sign in with Google and upload or download your backup;POST_NOTIFICATIONS, for the optional once-a-day study reminder;com.android.vending.BILLING, so the Google Play Store app can handle a
subscription purchase;WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, FOREGROUND_SERVICE
and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, which are added automatically by Android's WorkManager
library, used to schedule the reminder and the daily backup.Redeo Pro is sold through Google Play. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play: Redeo never sees your payment details, and only learns from the Play Store app on your device whether a subscription is active. Google processes purchase information under the Google Privacy Policy.
Signing in is optional. If you sign in with Google from Redeo's Backup screen, Redeo asks Google for two things:
drive.appdata). This folder is hidden and can only be used by Redeo. Redeo cannot
see or change any of your other Drive files. While you are signed in, Redeo saves one file to that folder containing your cards, your review history and your settings: at most once a day if something has changed, and whenever you tap "Back up now". The file goes directly from your phone to your own Google Drive. It never passes through a server operated by the developer, and the developer cannot read it. Google stores it under the Google Privacy Policy, and it counts towards your Drive storage.
Redeo's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Your Google data is used only to store and restore your own backup, and is not transferred to anyone else, used for advertising, or read by people.
Separately, if you have turned on Android's device backup, Android may include Redeo's database in the backup it keeps in your Google account, so your cards can be restored on a new phone. That backup belongs to your Google account and is managed by Android and Google. The developer has no access to it. You can turn backup off in your device's settings.
No data is sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party. The developer has no access to your cards, your answers, your review history or your backup.
Because nothing is sent to the developer, there is no copy for the developer to delete on your behalf.
Redeo is a general-purpose study tool. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them, or from anyone else.
